Want to get an idea of just how much talent is hiding in Revelstoke? Join us for our next group exhibition and members show! The Exhibition Opening Celebration will take place August 11, 5–8 p.m. All three of our side galleries will be filled with the works of our many members all inspired by this year’s theme “Pantone colour of the year.” Artists were invited to create work in any medium or theme as long as it had periwinkle blue somewhere in the piece. It’s always incredible to see how different artists interpret these challenges.
Meanwhile the main gallery will host “Exuvie” by Janna Yotte. Janna is a collage artist who explores compositions that are both delicate and imposing. With mushrooms, medical diagrams, and snakes often appearing as her subject matter Janna Yotte has created an exhibition which is simultaneously delicate and shameless, even disturbing. These contradictory forces give us an exhibition that is disarming but reassuring in its familiarity, just like human nature.
